Who would have thought that you’d find a Hong Kong Roasting restaurant right inside a Petron gas station complex?
Right at the corner of Pasay Road and EDSA, lies 8 Treasures Roasting. Nestled at the lower side of the Gas Station you see the window gleaming with portions of hanging goose, duck, roast suckling pig, HK soy chicken, and charsiu pork.
Brick walls, dim lighting, and a straightforward interior. Partners Benedicto Coyiuto, Jackson So, Danny and Monique Ordoñez, and Gregory Ordonez wanted to bring the authentic HK roasting experience here in Manila.
They started with the Chef. They recruited Chef Sammy Wong, a Hongkong native who has over 40 years of experience in Hong Kong Roasting. Their ingredients imported directly from Hong Kong gives you a taste of what roasting is all about.
LECHON MACAU AND ROAST DUCK
The Lechon Macau and the roast duck sit side by side over a bowl of white rice. The Lechon skin was crispy and the fat soft and tender it almost melts in your mouth when you bite into it.
The duck was also tasty but we found it a bit dry for our taste. The flavors of anise and soy enveloping the duck are evident in each bite. Both items were really good with their respective sauces.
LECHON MACAU AND SOY CHICKEN
In this combination meal, the ever so tender Lechon Macau is now paired with soy chicken.
The Chicken was tender and juicy and excellent with their ginger sauce.
CURRY FISH BALLS
These plump and juicy fish balls are not the typical ones you’d find at every corner of Manila. Instead, they are more reminiscent of those they actually sell in Hong Kong.
These fish balls are drenched in a curry sauce that is the perfect combination of these balls. Spot on just like in Hong Kong.
OUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE
Chef Sammy Wong brings in the Hong Kong experience here to a small corner of Makati. Hidden but easily found, 8 treasures is a place to have a nice roasting experience. Will be back to try their goose and suckling pig.
