Enough about food for a minute. We’d like to talk about our top favorite places where you can get yourself some nifty craft-alcohols. Where the vibe is calmly cool, the drinks are strong and the crowd is fluid. No, we’re not talking about your Palace Pool Clubs. Not where teenagers and millennials get drunk f*** out of their minds. Props for the concept, quality of drinks and an unbiased crowd. We want a refuge away from loud, obnoxious club music that many of us have outgrown already.
Today, we’ll tell you all about 5 different places where they allow free-flowing tête-à-tête between guests over quality cocktails. Do not expect ”new bar alerts” or too hyped out establishments. If you’re looking for that, then this is not the list for you. These places are the nooks where we seek refuge after a long hard day or where we want to cap the night off after a good meal.
This is the #FatGirlsDayOut list for Where to Drink in Manila with notes on what to order and what to expect beyond the liquid in the glass.
1. Pre-Game Sunset and Cocktails
One of the best end of day drinking that we love is with Mistral’s (formerly Mireio Terrace) Sips & Sunsets at Raffles Makati. For just 1,010 you can indulge in their well-crafted cocktails selection. Make sure to be there at exactly 5 pm so you can witness the Golden Hour hoving over the Makati skyline.
Check availability here.
Fat Girls Day Out Drink of Choice: Go for the gin mixers, frozen rosé, and whiskey-based concoctions.
Price is inclusive of VAT and is subject to 10% service charge and applicable local taxes. For more information and reservations, please call 795 0707 or email email@example.com
2. Go for Cigarettes After Sex over at INT. Bar
From our last content piece, where we to talked about Cubao City. We included this fine intimate speakeasy bar inside Cubao Expo. Behind the bright red curtain of a photo booth lies a little speakeasy by the name of Int. Bar. A place where the love for film and strong cocktails are in pure synthesis. Why “Int.”? It is the prefix of headers in film screenplays. Imagine entering a cool dark den complimented by mid-60s mid-century inspired modern furniture.
Take this drink called– Cigarettes After Sex. The bartender told us that this is the bestseller. If you’re a whiskey drinker, you’d enjoy this drink because of its layers of the flavor profile. Lapsang Infusion, Laphroaig 10 y.o. Islay Scotch Whiskey, Honey, Egg White, and Rosemary Smoke. The theatrical serving of this drink added a bonus touch to the overall experience.
For the ladies, you’ll love the Eternal Sunshine because it is sweet and yet the cacao infused tequila creates this depth of warm flavors which was offset by the brightness of agave.
A drink called Eternal Sunshine [Cacao nibs infused reposado, Aperol, pineapple, lime, and Agave nectar.] piqued our interest, mainly because we personally love the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004). Offhand, we wanted something sweet, refreshing, and will finish strong towards the end.
Another libation of choice would be a drink inspired by Wes Anderson’s 2002 film, The Royal Tenenbaums. This is for the scotch drinkers, they use Dewar’s scotch, Sandeman Tawny port wine, Angostura bitters, flamed citrus oil.
A speakeasy bar and cocktails named after classic films in Cubao? isn’t that interesting enough? Go for these damn good drinks and the conversations you will have.

3. The Curator, always and forever.
The Curator in Legazpi Village in Makati has created this ripple effect in the coffee and fine beverage scene in Manila. For 6 years, we’ve been a loyal patron.
If you’ve ever been to The Curator, you would understand their personal touch that exists within its walls. Barista and bartenders would ask for your first name and will sincerely ask how did your day go and then they’d let you try a few drinks that they’ve developed. You can see that they all have a sense of ownership over this establishment. Whether you like your cocktails boozy or bitter or sweet or refreshing, and then they’ll craft a curated menu to a selection that you might enjoy.

4. Intimate drinking session at the Blind Pig
The Blind Pig is the 1st speakeasy-style cocktail bar to open in Manila. This wonderful bar is inspired by Milk & Honey and paved the way for other great cocktail bars in Manila such as Curator, Niner Ichi Nana, and ABV. They don’t give a crap about social media and hype. They serve good solid drinks that people tend to talk about with their friends. There were no signages but there were clues like Braille signages next to the door.

5. Technically this place is NOT a bar (Half Saints)
Nestled politely in Sergeant Esguerra Avenue, Half Saints is driven by an all-woman team (Christine Roque, Trina Roque, Tricia Roque, Tanya Mesina, and Joanna Arciaga). Having a thoughtful reflection on their menu which was inspired by the chef’s wayfarer travels You’ll see a few articles online about how wonderful their food offerings are but we want to give homage to their fine selection of bottles and spirits.
Go for the good food and stay longer for the value for money quality alcoholic drinks
