While most of us want to get out of the city during weekends. We like to revisit what Manila has to offer. Manila may not be famous for its beauty, but its magnetic energy gives you this special feel. Dissimilar and lively in so many ways, it’s a great city to explore even if you only have a day of time.
In our Manila staycation we wanted to maximise what the city had to offer by staying at Hotel Benilde.
Hotel Benilde Maison
Hotel Benilde is a 4-star hotel at the corner of Arellano and Estrada St. They share their space with the Angelo King International Center(AKIC) of the College of St. Benilde.
Being an alumnus of De La Salle University, we would often pass by this building. And on this occasion, we had the opportunity to stay in the city and explore the area and the comfort of staying nearby.
The check in process was quite simple. Just hand over your ID, and they will let you know when your room is ready so you can rest. From the moment, we stepped off the elevator we were quite surprised with the hallway, they had newly carpets, rooms were also newly renovated.
We were quite surprised when we entered the room. Everything was new, it was very spacious, and accommodations were top notch. Beddings and the fittings of the room were excellent. Aside from that, they also have a complimentary mini bar, and their plugs are internationally fitted, suited for travellers.
They provide anything you might need for a business trip or a couples stay.

After heading out to tour the vicinity, we headed back to have dinner at Cafe Romancon. For our full Manila experience guide click HERE.
Located at the ground floor of Hotel Benilde, Cafe Romancon offers an ala carte menu for those checked in, as well as, for walk in guests. Their menu has a variety of dishes that’s both affordable and satisfying. Some of the kitchen and wait staff are students of College of Saint Benilde(CSB), doing their on-the-job training.
We Recommend the following dishes
Cream of Butternut Squash Soup 130 PHP
Thick and creamy squash soup topped with bacon. Smoky bits of bacon with the soup was satisfying.
Kani Mango Salad 190 PHP
Mix greens topped with shredded crab sticks, mango strips, and crunchy vermicelli noodles topped with a Japanese mayo dressing. The contrast in textures was really good. A nice twist to the classic salad.
Norwegian Salmon 390 PHP
Pan fried salmon with creamy leek sauce, garden vegetables, and mashed potatoes. Salmon was cooked perfectly pink at the center. Each element of the dish well thought out.
Fresian Express 350 PHP
Seared Beef Tenderloin with rosemary pan au jus served with a side of vegetables and fries.
For their Breakfast spread they serve classic buffet staples such as cereals, fruits, Filipino breakfast selections, pancakes, bread, and an omelette station. This comes FREE when you book an overnight stay.

Staying over in the Taft Avenue area will always be nostalgic to a Lasallian. The overlooking view of Manila Bay sunset, the familiar streets, and the same friendly people. Having room amenities comparable to a 5-star hotel, you’re sure to get the best value out of your money.
Hotel Benilde is a central location that is great for students, visiting parents, academe, and businessmen to stay in when they need to stay in the area. They have great facilities, top-notch service, and affordable prices.
