The Brgy. Kapitolyo food scene was defined by these roster of concepts; Cafe Juanita, Charlie’s Grind & Grill, Poco Deli, and Mad Mark’s Creamery and Good Eats. Established around 2012, Mad Mark’s was positioned to be a solid sandwich place where you’d be able to get “THE” Man Sandwich and good artisanal ice creams. Owned by Mark Isidro who got his inspiration from the US ic cream parlor shop called Mom and Pop Ice Cream Parlor.
I’ve been visiting the Kapitolyo branch far too many times just to get myself a scoop or two of their best sellers Half-Baked Madagascar and Java Chocolate and when I’m feeling famished I’d go for their hearty meal plates. Recently, Bianca and I craved for good solid meal plates while we were at Makati and thanks to all the food gods! Mad Mark’s actually has another branch in the Glorietta 3 Complex. The place is quaint and can get really busy during peak hours.
FGDO Top Picks
We were famished so we ordered a number of bestseller plates! Let us share with you our food visual snippets.
Fat Chips (99php)/Seasoned Potato Wedges
Johny Double Black Ribs (265php)/ Full Slab/ 2 Sides
Their signature ribs in JDB sauce, slow cooked for 20hrs before they grill these babies. Tasty and tender ribs, just enough hint of sweetness, strong southern BBQ flavor and smokey.
Daily Steak (265php)/ 150g USDA Flat Iron Steak/2 Side
The full-flavored, classic flat iron steak that is grilled according to your preference. Go for their in-house sauce to compliment everything.
Creole Grilled Chicken (215php)/ Boneless fillet/ 2 Sides
This chicken has a great taste and is just spicy enough without being overpowering. Perfect with any sides.
Deep Fried Cheesecake/ Madagascar Ice Cream/Chocolate Sauce
The perfect prologue after a good solid meal
I would still definitely vouch for their VALUE FOR MONEY offerings. You’d be able to enjoy a ‘good old’ USDA steak plate for less than 500php. Generous servings, attentive wait staff, and superb ice creams. It’s so good in fact that most of the time it’s way better than most international franchises that came along recently. Their restaurant is not intimidating and exudes this aura of coming inside a rustic southern family home where they will stuff you with their good food and hospitality
