Open Kitchen Sheridan: Impressions and Snippets

“Food Halls” are yet another trend in the food scene this 2018. You see a number of concepts being drawn to another glorified food court. With interiors that are ‘instagrammable’ centric, cold AC, and variety of choices of food that are pretty reasonable. Open Kitchen Sheridan opened last month in Mandaluyong.

Stall Descriptions/ FGDO HONEST Feedback

Aboy’s Fresh Lumpia

  • Sells fresh lumpia Made of stir-fried carrots, cabbage, and singkamas, wrapped together with minced garlic, seaweed, mung bean and ground nuts in your choice of either wheat-flour wrapper special egg wrapper cooked and prepared on site.
  • FGDO Feedback: We had better fresh lumpia. You can skip this still

Alehouse Manila- Refreshments

  • Local beers, sodas, and water.

Churros Stop

  • Well, they sell churros.
  • FGDO Feedback: As typical as any stall standard churros you can buy.

Cartel’s

  • Cali-Mex cuisine
  • FGDO Feedback: We sampled their nachos, soft carnitas tacos, and El Pollo and we felt that it lacks depth in spice flavors and they put too much sweet corn. Although, their serving portions are pretty generous. “Cali Mex”? More of Fil-Mex as flavors are sweet down to the meat brin.

ChickenZilla

  • ChickenZilla is a fast food brand inspired by Taiwanese Street Food with a local twist. The
brand’s main product is the Chicken Chop. It’s a boneless, large fried chicken that’s as big
as your face and it comes in 8 different flavors. The best selling flavors are BBQ, Plum and
Classic. The brand’s other core products include Glazed Chicken Wings and Monster. (From the press kit)
  • FGDO Feedback: Too much batter on their glazed chicken wings. You’d rather get their chicken chop.

De Original Jamaican Pattie Shop

  • The first Jamaican-styled retail outlet in the Philippines.
  • FGDO Feedback: How can you ever go wrong with Jamaican Pattie. This is a classic.

Do-Yoon Korean Restaurant

  • All meat platters come with 4 refillable side dishes and sauces.

Flow Handcrafted Ice Creamery

  • Flow is a handcrafted rolled ice cream concept that gives you a complete sensory
    experience.
  • FGDO Feedback: Lacks creaminess and taste. Well, its fun to look at when they were preparing the ice creams, but taste wise we will just settle for a McDonald’s soft serve. Price is also quite steep for a food hall.

Golden Hat

  • Golden Hat offers a selection of Thai food in your choice of meat, with an added bonus of
vegan variants for a healthier choice.
  • FGDO Feedback: The Pad Thai was very flavorful and had good sauce but was a bit too saucy for my taste. The red curry was served on top of the rice but each bite was quite addicting. Definitely would satiate your Thai cravings.

Lemon Central

  • The Lemon Central is a lemonade juice bar concept that offers refreshing lemonade
    drinks with a twist.
  • FGDO Feedback: Probably one of the best consumer lemonades out there. Go for their classic honey lemon! Not watered down and too sweet compared to its other counterparts. FGDO approved.

Oji-San Yakitori Bar

  • Oji-San offers wagyu cubes, sushi rolls and
katsu and donburi meals. Bestsellers are their crazy maki rolls, pork katsu, tempura and
    their Japanese fried rice.
  • FGDO Feedback: This stall hits the right spot. Quality, value for money, and taste. Highly recommended. Go for their maki rolls, tempura, and fresh sashimi. Restaurant quality out from a food park/hall

Steam & Boil

  • Serves organic vegetables and organic soup broths.
  • FGDO Feedback: Comforting and filling. Go for their shabu-shabu combination.
