Marinated prawns wrapped in aromatic pandan leaves. I personally like the spiciness of this dish. The pandan leaves also add flavor to the shrimp.

Deep fried prawns topped with garlic, chilies, spring onions and tamarind. The colorful pieces on this dish will put in delight.

Grilled marinated chunks of chicken skewed with cherry tomato, bell peppers, white onions, and pineapple served with sweet vinegar. For pork lovers out there, they also offer Thai pork skewers to suit your appetite.

Deep fried crispy rice crackers served with a creamy and savory dip made with coconut milk, shrimp, and chicken.

Phad Thai with Soft Shell Crab (Php 550)


Thai stir-fried rice noodles with soft shell crab. Most of Phad Thai dishes are stir-fried with eggs, chopped firm tofu, fish sauce, dried shrimp, shallots or garlic, red chili pepper, palm sugar and is flavored with tamarind pulp. This is served with lime wedges and chopped roasted peanuts. Chef Parpun used soft shell crab instead of shrimps to add texture to this dish. Moreover, he was so pleased when we ate our Phad Thai because we know how to mix them all up. We put the roasted peanuts and lime. We are fortunate that we get visit Thailand and had experience eating Phad Thai on the streets.

Red ruby chestnut with coconut ice cream. The red ruby chestnut tastes like nata de coco. The combination of the two is just perfect. Not too sweet and refreshing especially on a hot summer day.

Sweet Cassava (P220)


Sweet cassava topped with coconut milk. I personally like the softness and the texture of cassava, it melts in your mouth and the coconut milk blends well with it.


A fusion of delightful dishes makes a restaurant stand out from the rest. Maintaining a good portfolio of food for the past years makes you more credible on your craft. Being awarded as The Best Dining Restaurants 2018 by Philippine Tatler is an indication that they have to build a good reputation in the food industry. With Eric Dee from the FOODEE Global Concepts, the same group who brought in Tim Ho Wan and Todd English Food Hall.

With Executive Chef, Chef Carlo Miguel at the helm. Bench Cafe stays true to their mantra of promoting and supporting local by showcasing classic Filipino dishes served in an unconventional way.

Some of the best meals we’ve all had were in the comfort of our own homes. With the Bench Café, they wanted to copy that experience. Bench as a brand for the past 30 years promotes Filipino flare.

The principle that we love about this newly opened cafe is that they have combined elements of classic and modern Filipino dishes to create a selection that highlights our own cuisine. Unlike with most mainstream young Filipino restaurants opening in the market that played TOO MUCH with techniques. Bench Cafe is simple yet elegantly executed.

Drinks are handcrafted to give homage to different familiar and comforting Filipino flavors we grew up to incorporated into their hot & cold drinks, cocktails, and cakes — all with a Pinoy twist.

“Everything’s done locally. Our drinks, our coffee beans, chocolates are sourced locally because of the branding that they ‘love local,'” Dee said.

Bench Cafe starts you off with local versions of international favorites such as Pinoy Caprese, Binagoongan Caesar with Dilis Salad and Shrimp Suha Salad.


The Pinoy Caprese (149 PHP) had a base of watermelon instead of the usual tomatoes and made of our local kesong puti topped with basil and a cane vinegar gastrique. It was very refreshing and well balanced in flavor.

The Binagoongan Casar with Dilis Salad (149 PHP), might sound far from the original but the flavors of a classic Caesar salad are intact. The serve this with romaine lettuce with dilis croutons and a creamy bagoong and queso de bola dressing.

The Shrimp with Suha Salad (239 PHP), prawns and pomelo with a coriander and calamansi dressing.


Tinapa Cones(129 PHP)
Homemade Crispy Lumpia cones filled with Tinapa mouse and salsa. Crispy, smooth, and tangy. The different textures and flavors of this dish plays well balancing the contrast of all the ingredients.


Sisig Lettuce Wrap(239 PHP)
Crispy Sisig served with a lettuce cups and calamansi Foam. The calamansi foam was an interesting aspect of the dish, and the lettuce was a great way to combine the whole dish together.


Bongalmusal Silog(319 PHP)
This comes with portions of US Beef Tapa, Tocino, Daing na Bangus, Spam and Crispy Corned Beef. This is topped with their vinegar foam, that’s very evident each time you take a bite of their tapa, tocino, and daing. Each element of the dish is delicious and fulfilling.

Bench Cafe introduces the BENCH/TO meals, these are wooden trays with one main dish, one vegetable dish, one side dish and rice that’s served with atchara. It’s the local play into the Japanese bento box that dwelves around the idea of several different flavors and items that appear in one box to form a complete meal.

B9 Beef Kaldereta with Inasal Liempo, and Pinakbet (429 PHP)
Their slow cooked Beef Kaldereta was tender, and full flavor. It had a rich thick tomato sauce that was brimming with flavor. A lot of restaurants struggle with executing a Kaldereta dish, but Bench Cafe hits the just the right spot. It is delicisous. Try this with the dilis rice, it’s crunchy and adds an edge to your meal.

B10 US Angus Short Ribs Bistek, Inihaw na Pusit and Gising Gising (439 PHP)
The US Angus was tender and coated with the citrusy soy sauce and onions. It was seasoned exactly how we like our bistek Tagalog. It’s refined and homey at the same time. The Pusit was cooked perfectly and filled to the brim with tomatoes and onions. The Gising Gising had a strong coconut taste that could only come from fresh coconut milk. The combination of flavors of the B10 is just perfect.

Among the other viand choices are kare-kare, sisig, lechon kawali, tortang talong, and chicken inasal. Price points are between 250php and 400php.

All of their desserts make use of shaved ice with milk, similar to that of the Korean Bingsu. This innovation to our traditional deserts, enhance the flavor and avoid the usual struggles encountered when having your Halo Halo.

Their Flan B is shaped like a letter B, and is smooth, rich, and creamy. Similar to how our mom makes it. It has just the right amount of sweetness and is not overpowering.

Bench Cafe might be new to the Food scene, but we are foreseeing that they will stay for a very long time. Each dish is well thought out to show how unique and complex each of our varying Pinoy flavors can get. Rich and bold flavors are present in every dish we’ve tasted that night. Caffe Puccini is one of the old pillars of the ever changing Bonifacio Global City. Even surpassing, other establishments in the Fort Strip like Tony Romas, Embassy, and Draft. I’ve noticed it always changes restaurants every few years that now we have new comers such as The Original Thai BBQ, Puzzles, and Ogawa. No matter what the change Caffe Puccini has stood the test of time.

The name Puccini was taken from famous Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, where some of the murals inside the restaurant are taken from his operas Bohème, Turandot, and Madamba Butterfly.

Once inside you can feel this classic Italian vibe from the furniture and light fixtures where they use classic chandeliers and wood to accent the interior.

The moment you are seated, your server will immediately put a bread basket with 3-4 kinds of freshly baked bread, pâté and marinara sauce as your appetizer.

Pizza Al Tartufo Nero, 670 PHP

I really liked this pizza. The assorted mushroom, on the mascarpone cheese with black truffle bits was very balanced and was very good with honey. The crust was light, airy and chewy.

I have to be honest, I thought the balsamic reduction on top made the pizza a bit too sweet for my taste that it overpowered the prosciutto. However, it was still very good.

When ordering pasta anywhere, remember to ask for fresh pasta when they have it available. The fresh pasta was really complimented by the simple olive oil, garlic and tiger prawn. It was tasty, and the noodles were springy. Fresh pasta really makes a difference.

Vongole, 435 PHP

In contrast in the Vongole they used dry pasta. The olive oil, white wine, and clams complement each other but lacks that extra punch that you have when you eat fresh pasta. It’s still a good dish though.

Petto di Pollo Ripieno Arrosto, 670 PHP

The chicken breast was cooked well and complimented the spinach and ricotta cheese in the center. However, the ricotta was lost in terms of flavor. The mash potato was creamy and was very good with the gravy. Not my favorite dish of the night.

Tiramisu, 285 PHP

Tiramisu is actually one of my favorite desserts and I was excited when I found out it was their specialty. Unfortunately, I don’t think we got a fresh batch since the bottom part of the cake was an it frozen and the melted water diluted some of the flavors.

Panacotta Alla Vanilla, 240 PHP

This was very creamy. I really liked the flavor and smooth consistency however it was really heavy. Regardless, we still finished it.

We actually ordered several more dishes like their calzone but I wouldn’t recommend it. The biggest downside is they don’t have their own rest room so you will have to go outside using a restroom ticket you can get from the servers.

You go to this restaurant If you’re on a first date, Sunday lunch with your soon to be in-laws or if you’d want to buy dinner for your parents. The interiors and corner location for their Al Frescò area gives you an honest view of Fort Strip. You can people watch while enjoying their espresso. The place has been here for years and it’s a true testament that fads and out of the box concepts that are popular now won’t be able to show longevity as they have.

Overall, Caffe Puccini offers a casual Dining experience to their customers that highlight their classic Italian dishes, and their excellent hospitality. Their consistency in flavor have kept their patrons coming back for their pasta and pizza. I know I’ll be back, remember to get fresh pasta coz it really makes all the difference.
