Templó Modern Szechuan: A Contemporary Take on the Classic

Templó Modern Szechuan: A Contemporary Take on the Classic

If you are anyone like us who seek out a good spicy food and any other ‘ump’ to their dish then you’re in for a treat my friend. Templó Modern Szechuan is a strong new entrant player in the Banawe QC neighborhood. If you are in the mood for some spicy challenge to awaken your taste buds then this is the perfect place for you.

You may say that opening another Chinese restaurant in the Banawe strip/neighborhood yet again is stereotypical. The market may be saturated perhaps for a new entrant to come in and not succeed, but  Templó Modern Szechuan is making sure that it’ll offer something different to the market. It occupies that space- where its major focal point is to offer Szechuan inspired cuisine (heat, heat and more heat) yet can be tailor fitted anyone’s taste buds.

Templó interior gives you that sense of you are entering a Buddhist temple. The design was intentional more or less. If you’ve traveled to the Sichuan province in China you’d see these adornments from their temples. Dominant red and gold from the restaurants interior and the overall facade of the place.

Spicy and bold flavors that mixed well with lots of herbs, garlic and of course the staple Szechuan peppers. Templó base-taste matrix is true to its core ethos- the Szechuan cuisine and yet played well with managing how the whole fusion cuisine dynamics maintaining that authenticity to the presentation of flavors.

Fusion cuisine has been around for as long as there have been people from different lands, living in close proximity, exchanging and recombining their food traditions. It naturally emerges when culture overlaps. As a consumer, we are more knowledgeable about food from other countries and daring enough to sample new flavors. And fusion has a new audience of younger diners who have grown up with this exposure and are eager to try new, bold combos. Templó Modern Szechuan is positioning itself to that space and we’re glad that they are daring enough to offer something niche to the Filipino market.

Special appreciation to Team Kaladkarin for tagging the Fat Girls Day Out crew in their Sunday-Funday food adventure!
