The Belle and Dragon have been a known standout in the neighborhood of C.Palanca of Legaspi Village since 2015. The elaborately furnished interior which evokes a feeling of mystery and elegance. Beers on tap displayed vigorously welcoming you to quench you after office stress with a pint or two. Good selection of alcohols and knowingly their kitchen can whip out solid satisfying dishes as well. This pub serves up quite tasty grubs that it constantly up its game whenever they feel like their constant customers deserve a new tasty shakedown.
When you enter the wooden door, you will be welcomed by figures and artifacts coming from different fictional stories and classical literature that covers the walls and decor of this Pub. It’s a fusion of real world and fantasy, a contrast of an old English Pub and the stuff of fantasy. Lines of books, open pages, and antiques line the walls. This same theme is also applied to their food, the confluence of east and west. The Belle and Dragon is a fusion of European and Asian cuisine, it combines elements or distinct culinary traditions with local South East Asian flavors.
To kick off 2018, the Belle and Dragon added new menu items to their list of old favorites that is sure to delight you.
Mozza Bites (450 PHP) Breaded golden brown mozzarella bites served with marinara sauce and basil. A new take on the famous caprese.
Mixed Mushroom Salad (350 PHP) Salad of fresh mixed greens, torched salmon, marinated mixed mushrooms, fresh mixed herbs (mint, cilantro, and basil), served with roasted garlic ponzu vinaigrette.
Palanca Pares (220 PHP) Soy braised brisket, topped with fried garlic, green chili slices, green onions, served with potato mash. The brisket melts in your mouth. It’ a new take on pares, an old favorite, while maintaining the key flavors of the dish.
Fried Chicken Omurice (265PHP) One-quarter piece boneless fried chicken served with an egg omelette over rice, Japanese chicken curry sauce, and pickled radish. The crispy chicken sits on a bed of curry sauce with a side of Omurice. The rich curry sauce complements the crispy chicken and Omurice.
Wake Me Up (250 PHP) Spicy ground Thai pork ragu, soft boiled egg, fried garlic, chili pepper, and mixed herbs (mint, cilantro, basil) over steamed Japanese rice.
Szechuan Bolognese (290 PHP) A different take on the classic Bolognese meat sauce with an Asian twist, seasoned with Chinese sausage, eggplants, chilies, spices on a bed of noodles. At first, it may be intimidating but that same flavors of Bolognese shine through and is complemented by the bold flavors of the herbs. As a bonus, you get a FREE Belle Sundae when you order their Szechuan Bolognese.
Belle Sundae (320 PHP) Strawberry and Chocolate Ice Cream topped with homemade honey butter biscuit chunks, chocolate sauce, whipped cream, nuts, and banana Brule.
The Belle and Dragon take you into a special place and serve you a delightful meal filled with familiar flavors served in a different package. Aside from the great food, they also have an extensive bar with a combination of interesting cocktails and an extensive collection of craft beers. Try the Engkanto Lager, you won’t regret it.
